Currently, we cannot allow libraries to update their own hours (or contact info / addresses) because they are part of the org unit settings and we do not give the libraries permissions at that level. It would be helpful if this information were split out so that libraries could do this themselves, just as they can change their own library settings and their own closed dates.

ParticipantI never see this part of Evergreen, but it certainly sounds like a no brainer. Why wouldn’t we want this?

KeymasterThis has been particularly desirable as we begin to see libraries reopen w/ hours different from the pre-Covid era. As part of this, it would also be desirable for libraries to have the ability to designate more than one open time-span on a given day of the week.

KeymasterThis LP ticket references desired behavior regarding split hours and other atypical schedules.

KeymasterI honestly forgot all about hours in the OPAC until our statewide mobile app was released and we realized that we probably should update those to reflect our actual hours. Submitting a ticket to fix the issue isn’t the worst thing in the world, but it makes sense, especially in an era where libraries may be moving forward and backward through opening phases with differing hours, to let local accounts with appropriate permissions make those changes instead.

ParticipantI updated the launchpad bug in favor, very much in favor, of this development. We are displaying the open hours from the org unit in several places now and this development would be helpful. I added that summer and winter hours would also be helpful.

ParticipantThis would also be useful for us — libraries can maintain closed dates and don’t understand why they can’t also maintain their own hours.

ParticipantI may be confused (?!), but wanted to advise that BC Libraries Support team uses Evergreen permissions to allow Sitka library staff with the LSA profile to edit their own open hours and addresses in the server admin org unit interface. They are restricted to those settings, and only LSA is granted that perm(s).
We are currently on 3.5 ,but have allowed this for past versions too. To help confirm what I mean, we document it for our member libraries here if curious http://docs.libraries.coop/sitka/_organizational_units.htmlI am also interested in discussing/voting on the other part of this idea, which is noted by Ruth above, regarding split hours and other atypical schedules, so if various aspects of these 2 ideas end up in one idea I am in favour of that too.
Other bug is https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1396764
Thanks!

ParticipantSitka LSA staff currently can edit their own hours and addresses in organizational units, we use perms to control it. We are currently on 3.5, and have allowed this in prior versions as well. Is this what is meant here?

ParticipantI may be confused but can advise we use Evergreen permissions to allow all Sitka LSA staff to edit their own hours and addresses in organizational units. To confirm what I mean, we document it for our libraries here if curious: http://docs.libraries.coop/sitka/_organizational_units.html
LSA are only able to edit these two things, and only LSA have the perm(s) granted. Is this what is meant here?
I am also interested in voting on the related bug referenced by Ruth, to allow split hours. https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1396764
If aspects of the two ideas get merged into one I am in favour of that too.
Thanks

KeymasterThere IS the ability for this permission to be granted to local administrators. In digging through this ticket, we also uncovered a poorly constructed permission in EG-IN, so a big thanks to Shannon. I am in the process of sussing out what is already there and what needs to be added to address this feature request.

KeymasterWhile there is the ability for libraries to update their own hours and address (with the appropriate permissions), there is no way to account for libraries that have multiple discrete blocks of open time on a given day. This is a desirable feature documented here. https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1396764
