Submitting Ideas for Evergreen ILS Development Projects
Ideas for Development Projects are welcome year-round. Annually, ECDI goes through a prioritization process to select development projects to fund.
We rely on members sharing ideas for Evergreen ILS development and we are focused on development across the following categories:
- Accessibility- improving usability for patrons
- Angularization- updates to programming frameworks and languaging
- Bug Fixes- fixes to existing issues
- Quality of Life Improvements – improving usability for staff
- New Features- Evergreen ILS improvements and features
Ideas outside of these categories are always welcome as well!
For this year, idea submissions are limited to members of the Development Committee. To submit ideas you must have a member login for the ECDI website. If you run into issues logging in, please contact the ECDI Program Director.
Adding Your Ideas
- Once logged in, go to the Submit Ideas page under Development Project Ideas on the site.
- Find the section Push Your Idea and fill in the title, additional details (including a launchpad link if it exists) and tag(s) to associate it with a category for prioritization.
- The system is prepopulated with the following category tags:
- accessibility-category
- angularization or languaging-category
- bug fix-category
- life quality-category
- new feature-category
- other-category
- You can select from these tags by beginning to type the term and select as many tags as are relevant.
- If you aren’t sure of the category you may select other-category.
- Include Attachments (if applicable). You can link images, screenshots or other documentation related to your idea.
- Click Push to submit your idea. The idea will appear on the page and a notification will be sent to the Program Director that it was posted.
Tips when Adding Ideas
- Before submitting an idea, check the site for a similar idea and add a ‘like’ or comment to show your support.
- Commenting and likes are encouraged but these don’t count as votes as part of the prioritization process.
- If your idea (or another idea you see when scrolling), has an associated bug reported on launchpad, add a link to it in the description or comments.
- When tagging your idea, you can also apply subject-related tags. Some of these might already be in the system so as you begin typing look to see what’s been used before!
Next Steps
In March 2026 we will begin the prioritization and voting process to select development projects to begin engagement on this year. More information to come.
Thanks for contributing to ECDI!
