Holds are not aware of new or newly holdable items until a targeting process runs on the relevant holds. As a result, a new item must be checked in using the “Retarget…” checkin modifiers to be sure it is captured for the correct hold. A regular checkin can result in the item being captured inappropriately for a newer hold, or not being captured at all. There can be similar issues if an existing item becomes holdable as a result of an edit or its age hold protection expires.
